Sensory Character & Tasting Notes
Origin, Heritage & Craft Tradition
Pioneered by the Trappist monks of Westmalle Abbey in Belgium in 1934, Tripel was formulated as a strong golden ale to complement their historic Dubbel. The secret to its remarkable lightness of body despite its 8-9% ABV is the generous addition of pure crystalline Belgian candi sugar, which ferments completely without leaving unfermentable dextrins.
